Coming up with herbal formulas is a creative process, designed with the thought of each component and action the herb will take in the body. When making a blend containing adaptogen herbs, it becomes one that can be taken on a regular basis to combat stress, and choosing these herbs happens through experience. For the new herbal dessert powder called Adaptablend, it contains herbs that will help the body adapt to stressors of life and other synergistic flavors that also add nutritional quality, all being great for sweet treats and blended drinks!
What does this formula contain? Lucuma is the sweet dessert aspect of this blend, adding a creamy and rich fruitiness to the mix, as well as being a low-glycemic sweetener adding depth to a recipe. There is the Adapt blend, the herbal components of the mix, including Ashwagandha, Mucuna, Rhodiola, Moringa, and Hibiscus. Both Ashwagandha and Rhodiola are well known herbal adaptogens, Ashwagandha being an Ayurvedic herb and Rhodiola originating in northern climates.
Homeostasis is what we truly need to function at our best. Balancing life isn't always easy, but with right practice we can feel our best. One of these practices is what we put into our bodies, through food. Each of us is unique, our body compositions and needs can differ depending on our state of being, the environment we live in and how we deal with stress. Adaptogen herbs can offer us a way of assisting the body in regulating itself, to heal through gentle action. A great addition to a primarily whole foods diet.
Dessert can actually be a part of a health promoting diet, as a small amount of sweetness provides us energy and pleasure. The right kind of sweets are the key! Using whole, unprocessed ingredients to start, dessert can be made both healthy and delicious, using a combination of raw fats and fruits in the right proportions. I've found that using coconut oil and coconut butter are some of the best fats to use in raw dessert making, where they can hold the shape of a cream and also don't have the 'anti-nutrients' (phytic acid) that many nuts contain (before soaking). It is light, yet so rich, and full of medium chain fats.
Adaptablend is a tasty addition to any dessert, but one of my favorite sweet treats to use this delicious product with is blended into a creamy pie filling. Of course, an easy way to use Adaptablend is in smoothies and elixirs, which are both made within minutes and can provide the ultimate nutrition to start your day! But, when I think of making dessert, pie always comes to mind ;) Adaptablend features Lucuma as the sweetener and flavor component that comes through in a recipe. So when pairing this dessert powder, I like to think what would go with Lucuma! Strawberries are my first thought, they are a perfect pair. Any other berry is also great, as well as tropical flavors. One pie I made recently I called a 'Strawberry Citrus Cream Pie' and served it in cheesecake form, but in my mind its pie. I grew up eating lots of pie, not cheesecake, so I always tend to refer to pie even when using a cheesecake springform pan. Pie is just more comforting to me :)
Now I want to share this recipe with you! As always, you can choose to make all the components to complete the whole recipe, or use the parts and simplify. Like for the cream you could serve it as a pudding/creme on its own, topped with fresh fruit, or even as an addition to another recipe. Thats one reason I love raw desserts so much, they are adaptable!!

Another favorite recipe is my Turmeric Chai Elixir which I make with the Adaptablend and Diviana Nectar, a raw honey infused with herbs and spices.
